Profile

I have spent my career inside operating businesses, where the numbers have to be right and decisions cannot wait.

I grew up in Taiwan, studied computer science at Tunghai University and began my career in financial services there. I came to Australia to study at The University of Queensland, completed two master’s degrees and became a CPA in 2016.

That path shapes how I work. The accountant in me wants numbers that stand up to an auditor. The engineer wants them produced by well-built systems. Years in owner-led and multinational businesses have taught me that none of it matters until the people running the business can use it.

Townsville Auto Group

Financial Controller · 2021 to 2026

An 11-franchise dealer group in the Pickerings Group with 80+ staff, three workshops, parts warehousing and finance and insurance. I led Finance, IT and HR with oversight of operations, prepared the investment cases for five new franchises and a used-car yard, and reported monthly to the group CEO, CFO and COO.

  • Quick-service bays and an apprenticeship model lifted daily workshop throughput by 20% and gross profit per technician by 15%.
  • Incentives tied to profitability and customer lifetime value lifted finance and insurance penetration by 25% and accessories revenue per vehicle by 40%.

Cross-border governance

MOS Burger Australia

Finance Manager / General Management · 2017 to 2021

The Australian joint venture of a Japanese listed group, with Taiwanese and Australian shareholders. I held full P&L accountability, including a period as acting General Manager, reported monthly to a Board of more than ten directors in Taipei, and led an end-to-end ERP and point-of-sale implementation.

  • Moved core ingredient supply to local manufacturing that met Japanese standards, and opened export channels to Japan and Taiwan.
  • Managed the half-year and full-year audits with PwC and the Japanese parent’s auditors, and worked with shareholders on equity raising.

A multi-entity car hire group with a 1,200-vehicle fleet across a branch network. I lead Finance, set the Board agenda and reporting format on which fleet purchases, site leases and expansion are decided, and negotiate facilities with banks and financiers against a three to five year growth plan.

  • Introduced vehicle-level unit economics, tracking each vehicle’s revenue, utilisation, finance cost, maintenance and contribution.
  • Built KPI scorecards from existing systems for finance and non-finance staff at every level.
